For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to Americana décor — there’s just something about
the Red, White, and Blue that feels timeless and heartfelt. Handmade patriotic pieces especially speak to me;
if I could, I’d probably fill my entire home with them. Not sure the hubby would go for that.
Right now, my front picture window holds three lit faux Christmas trees wrapped in patriotic ribbons. Normally I change them out with the seasons, but lately I’ve been tempted to leave them just as they are. Neighbors probably wonder why I keep Christmas trees glowing year-round, but to me, the light feels welcoming — almost like it’s shining the way forward.
And maybe it’s no coincidence: my daughter was born on the Fourth of July, so celebrating in red, white, and blue has an extra special meaning in our family.
When I first started out as a crafter, wreaths were my very first love. I still have a catalog of the ones I made, along with an idea book that I flip through whenever I need a spark of inspiration. What I’ve learned is that even if you’re making a wreath for fall, you can borrow ideas from any season. Colors, shapes, and textures all cross over — and often, it’s those unexpected combinations that make a design stand out.
In this post, I’m excited to share some Patriotic Wreaths with you — ideas that work for Labor Day and beyond.
I really love the simplicity of this wreath. At first glance, it seems to be made from nothing more than wide red and white ribbon, which gives it such a clean and striking look. The star material is interesting — it almost resembles a piece of an actual flag, with a heavier texture that adds depth.
Simply Beautiful!
This is another wonderfully simple wreath that still makes a striking statement. I zoomed in as closely as I could to figure out the material, and it appears to be ribbons — tightly wrapped around a wire wreath frame for a clean, structured look. The stars remind me of the raised, stitched versions you often find at fabric stores, adding just the right touch of texture and dimension.
Wonderfully Striking!
My personal decor is closer to a Primitive style, but rustic is also favored. This wreath leans toward a rustic antique style, and the background really enhances that look. The large stars stand out beautifully against the smaller ones creating a striking contrast.
The shades of reds and blues compliment each other well, which isn’t always easy to do. Metal stars add depth and dimension, and if you look closely, you’ll notice subtle gold, red, and white stars woven in with a cord that blends perfectly into the antique theme.
Gracefully Rustic!
I love how the red, white, and blue flowers are used here — each one is the same size, creating a perfectly balanced look. The touch of baby’s breath adds a soft accent, while the wispy material along the outer edge gives the wreath a light, airy feel.
Together, these details make the wreath feel both cheerful and inviting. It’s a design that captures patriotic spirit while still keeping a delicate, handcrafted charm.
Perfectly Timeless!
This blue starred ribbon is the “star” of the wreath. (Forgive my pun) This ribbon paired with the khaki and red ribbon creates a subtle striped effect that really draws the eye. The few red flowers add just the right pop of color, while the white stars provide balance and contrast.
Berries and smaller stars are woven in as fillers, giving the wreath texture and a well-blended finish. This would definitely hang on my front door.
Charming in its Simplicity!
I wasn’t real sure how to describe this one. There are so many small factors that adds to its beauty. Soft greenery is the base, accented with vibrant red and smaller blue flowers. If you look closer, there are fabric balls, pine cones and what looks like Star Fish.
A number of materials of different sizes make a well blended finished look. At the center, a flag proudly anchors the design, making it a striking tribute to Americana spirit.
Humble Yet Stunning!
This is another wreath that would be a focus in my home. An antique-style patriotic wreath captures a timeless Americana look with its natural textures and colors. Red and blue berries pair beautifully with light brown and tan flowers, giving it a warm, rustic charm.
A single blue ribbon adorned with white stars ties the design together, adding just the right touch of patriotic flair without overpowering its antique feel.
Heritage in Bloom!
I’ve never tried making fabric flowers myself, but whoever created this wreath has truly mastered the craft. The placement of the blue in the center circle perfectly mimics the stars of the flag, while the red and white flowers mimic the stripes.
The solid fabric petals give the design a bold, structured look, yet still keep a soft, handcrafted charm. Together, the fabric flowers add beautiful texture and depth without overwhelming the wreath.
Beautifully Crafted!
